PRESENTATION OF THE BBI
Origin and location:
The International Association of Belgian Blue Cattle Breeders (BBI) ) is a not-for-profit organization established in1986 by the Belgian Blue Herd-Books of the world.
From 1973 to 2005, 16 Herd-Books were created in Europe, America, Asia and Australia in order to establish internationally the recognition of the Belgian Blue breed.
The BBI and Belgian Blue Beef Herd Book (BBB HB) offices are located in the city of CINEY, capital of the region of Condroz in Belgium.
Objectives :
Even if the Belgian Blue breed is bred under very different conditions and production systems according to the country, it is of utmost importance for each BB associations to work together to:
- harmonize the methods and criteria of identification and registration of BBB in the different Herd-Books;
- keep the registers and registration papers of the animals exchanged or sold;
- exchange information regarding the breeding of Belgian Blue;
- favor the exchange of genetics;
- cooperate in the promotion of the Belgian Blue breed;
- internationally represents the interests of the Belgian Blue.
